Summary:

ME&A seeks a full-time mid- level Editor to support and work closely with the Proposal Development and Project Management Team. The Editor will serve as the lead on editing project-generated reports and writing briefs and other communication materials for ME&A.  S/he will be responsible for ensuring that reports are understandable and easy to read for target audiences including, but not limited to, USAID, congressional leaders, the donor community, and the general public. S/he will work with other team members to ensure that reports are technically accurate per USAID guidelines.  The position requires an experience writing and responding to a solicitation and familiar with government agencies', specifically USAID's, terms, regulations, and languages. This individual will also need to have experience with making sure that documents meet branding and 508 compliance rules. Ideal candidates must have at least 5 years of experience as a technical writer/editor. S/he must have a graduate degree in journalism, communication, or a related discipline and have a broad familiarity with international development.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support with technical writing assignments (writing, copy editing, formatting)
  • Review, rewrite, and copy edit technical documents generated by the project staff, including project reports, workplans, strategies, frameworks, success stories for content accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Generate technical reports based on information/content provided by project staff, including project documents, workplans, strategies, frameworks, success stories, and other communication documents
  • Review documents to ensure the messaging is consistent with the project objectives and USAID expectations
  • Write executive summaries, announcements, briefs, headlines, proposals, and other sections for reports
  • Collaborate with the team to curate and create compelling content and ideas, keeping the audience in mind.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications or other related fields
  • Minimum 5 years' experience writing and editing Federal Government proposals and marketing materials
  • Experience writing reports, briefs, and similar content
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) process
  • International development experience and second language a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and on multiple documents
  • Highly organized, proactive, and collaborative
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
